Conventional (Electrode) EDM

Wire EDM Technologies has Conventional EDM capabilities to serve you. We can EDM anything that conducts electricity. Electrodes are usually made of graphite, copper or copper tungsten (to machine carbide). Our machine travels are 12 x 8.5 in the X and Y axis, with a Z axis travel of 9 inches.

Tolerances

Our machines are operated in a clean, climate controlled environment. This ensures the machine tool is thermally stable, allowing us to hold tight tolerances of ± 0.0002. Also, operating in this environment ensures accuracy across the entire machine tool travel.

4 Axis Machining Capabilities

The addition of 4th axis machining allows the electrode to spin 360 degrees about the Z axis simultaneously with the X, Y and Z axis movements. Your imagination is about the only limit on what can be machined.

Tool Changing Capacity

With our 4 position tool changer, lights out machining can be achieved thus saving time, money and reducing delivery times.

Computer Aided Design

With our Surfcam Velocity CNC Machining software, complicated geometry can be machined on the electrode and edm machined onto the part with precision. Geometry can be machined via solid and surface models.

Tapping in Hardened Materials

We keep EDM electrodes in stock to edm tap hardened materials. We can easily and accurately machine English or Metric tapped holes per your specifications. We orbit with the threaded electrode, which results in the same size and fit from the top to the bottom of the threads. This is far superior to the antiquated technique of spinning the electrode.
